Two-seater carriage. Belonged to Empress Elizaveta Petrovna

One of the many ceremonial equipages of Empress Elizaveta Petrovna, the carriage is executed on demand of the Russian court in 1740 in Vienna. Unbelievable splendour was always a characteristic of the Empress Elizaveta Petrovna’s court, as well as ceremonial carriages were ordered from the best European craftsmen.

Features of the graceful Rococo style are distinguished in the form and decoration of the two-seater carriage. Its body narrows from top-down. Windows and doors are completed with mirror glass. Carved allegoric figures and painted images of nymphs, tritons and cupids are very skillfully executed. A copper crown on tops decorates the carriage.
