Hall 4. Russian arms and armour of the 12th - early 19th century

The collection of helmets, chain mail, cold steel etc. of the 12th-17th centuries gives the idea of the Old Russian arms' basic kinds and national peculiarities. Artworks made by masters of the Armoury Chamber in the 17th century are characterized by high technological level and rich artistic decoration. Guns, pistols and ceremonial arms and armour are indicative of these. Arms production in Russia of the 18th and 19th centuries is presented by specimens produced at factories in Tula, Olonets, Sestroretsk, Saint Petersburg and Zlatoust.

The collection of orders and decorations includes all basic military and civil orders and decorations of Russia in the 18th-19th centuries.
