Hall 9. Carriages of the 16th to 18th centuries.The collection of carriages of the Armoury Chamber is the finest in the world in terms of the highest level of artistic performance of the items, their forms diversity and breadth of the collection’s chronological frames. It presents masterpieces of the craftsmen from the largest Russian and Western European artistic centers such as Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Vienna, Berlin, Paris and London. This gives  a perfect opportunity to trace the development of forms, construction and décor of carriages during the period of the 16th to the 18th centuries taking the monuments of the worldwide significance as an example. The displayed carriages belonged to the Russian sovereigns of the 16th – 18th centuries and were used during the most important state ceremonies, such as tsar’s military campaigns, meetings with foreign ambassadors and coronation processions.
